Learning in Public: Why I'm Doing It, Even If It Feels Risky
This note explained why the early InflectAI work was published in public while the ideas were still forming.
The Choice
Learning in public creates discomfort because early ideas are visible before they are fully polished. But it also creates accountability, feedback, and a record of how the thinking develops.
The note argued that credibility can come from clarity rather than performance. Showing the work makes the journey useful to others, not just the final conclusion.
The risk named in the original note was ordinary but real: someone might see an unfinished thought, a later contradiction, or an imperfect experiment. The answer was that polish is not the same as usefulness.
The note positioned public learning as a way for operators to share what they are building, breaking, learning, and fixing without pretending the story was already complete.
The Pattern
The operating loop was share, learn, iterate, and grow. That loop mattered because the same rhythm applies to AI-era company building: publish the hypothesis, test the response, revise quickly, and keep moving.
This remains a useful way to read the archive. The early notes are not finished doctrine. They are a visible trail of exploration.
That public loop also had a strategic dimension. In an AI-first go-to-market environment, speed and iteration matter more than the appearance of finished certainty. The behavior being modeled was the behavior the notes were advocating.
The archive is therefore not a museum case. It is evidence of a method: say what you are seeing, make the idea inspectable, invite feedback, and let the next version become sharper.
